Process design
Edge quality and recoiling stability start with tooling, tension, and line stiffness.
A slitting line must be designed around maximum coil weight, strip count, minimum slit width, material strength, knife specification, scrap handling, and recoiler torque.
- Core modules include coil loading, uncoiling, EPC, slitter head, scrap winder, tension stand, recoiling, and unloading.
- Quality focus: burr control, camber control, telescoping prevention, flat coil face, and winding tightness.
- Light-gauge and narrow precision lines can include quick knife change and separated tension control.
- Heavy-gauge lines prioritize frame stiffness, cutting force, scrap stability, and safety protection.
Slitting checkpoints.
| Line type | Application | Materials | Width range | Thickness range | Speed range |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light-gauge high-speed slitting line | High-efficiency longitudinal slitting for precision narrow strip | Stainless steel / silicon steel / copper and aluminum strip | 350-1250mm | 0.03-1.0mm | 150-400m/min |
| Standard steel coil slitting line | General coil slitting for 1250/1450/1600mm steel coils | Carbon steel / stainless steel / galvanized steel / silicon steel | 650-1600mm | 0.2-3.0mm | 80-220m/min |
| Heavy-gauge slitting line | Lower-speed slitting for thick coils with higher cutting force | Carbon steel / pickled hot rolled steel / medium-gauge stainless steel | 850-1780mm | 1.0-6.0mm | 20-120m/min |
| Narrow precision slitting line | Multi-strip narrow coil cutting for precision and decorative materials | Precision stainless strip / copper and aluminum strip / coated strip | 350-850mm | 0.02-1.5mm | 100-300m/min |
Ranges are engineering reference values. Final specification depends on coil weight, strip count, knife configuration, material strength, edge tolerance, and recoiling quality target.
